Newmarket

Newmarket racing tips

Newmarket is the headquarters of British flat racing — two distinct courses (Rowley Mile and July Course) and the heart of the classic season. The model treats them as separate venues because they ride completely differently.

Two courses, two profiles

  • Rowley Mile — used spring and autumn, straight 10f, stiff uphill finish, stamina-heavy
  • July Course — summer only, slightly easier ground, friendlier to speed types
  • Draw bias varies meeting to meeting; pace projections matter on the straight courses

Big meetings we cover

  • Guineas weekend (early May) — 2000 and 1000 Guineas
  • July Festival — July Cup, Falmouth, Princess of Wales's
  • Cambridgeshire meeting (late September)
  • Future Champions Festival (mid-October)

Where Newmarket value lives

  • Cambridgeshire and similar massive-field handicaps
  • Maiden races for unraced juveniles from less-fancied yards
  • Listed sprints where a "step-up" horse goes off too big
  • Stamina-bred horses on the Rowley Mile in soft ground
